Al Lopez is before my time but people don't salivate over Dusty the way they do Maddon. The guy wins a WC (albeit with a lot of wins) with a super talented nearly injury free team and he cruises to MOY. Dusty is well-liked bc he seems like a good guy but nobody thinks he's Einstein (like they do Maddon).
In Tampa he took a low payroll team to WS. He averaged 100 wins as a Cub manager. He got out-managed last year by TC, and TF has him hanging on the ropes. Dusty may be well liked, and he has a knack for getting the right jobs, but often does things that make him look like a sub par manager.
