Very much! Two uber, deep, 100-win teams dripping with talent? As opposed to teams that sneak into the playoffs and get on a good run for 2 weeks? Indeed.

Lololol. The Yankees are going to haunt you for the next few years. This was a rebuilding year, remember.

No question Houston was a better team this year, but that Yankee team is dripping with talent, with more on the way, including Gleyber, Frazier, Adams, Harper and Machado.

Sorry. I meant "they have so much potential", "they'll be back soon", "so much to be proud of", etc etc

Please. Just make sure you get it and not one of the Met's pitchers. I'd hate to see one of them get injured on my account.

True. But let the 2015 Mets, the 2016 Indians, the 2010's Nats and so many other teams be a lesson that just because you make it far doesn't mean you'll be back. Sure, all the above teams can be back, and maybe the Cubs will eventually build that dynasty that BarryG spoke about, but you never know in this game. Everything has to click, with health, performance, luck, etc, and it doesn't usually happen every year.

Unless you are the Yankees.

In all seriousness, it would be foolish to predict a world series appearance with so many teams as loaded as they are. Cleveland, Houston and Boston, to name a few, are ridiculously loaded with young incredible talent.

But as a Yankee fan, seeing the young talent this year and who is coming up next year and beyond, it's the most exciting team in years. For me, ever.

From 96-2000, no question. Since 04? Not as much.
Their 04 finish was as bad as any team's in history, obviously they won in 09, but otherwise not much else. 2012 Alcs no show, no playoff wins until this year. In short, my childhood with this was rough but the last 13 years were just fine.

I can fathom why someone would care that a specific team do better but why would someone care that a team do poorly when it is irrelevant to their team?

Okay. Maybe it is just because I don't really understand care that a team win either. For that matter I don't really understand following sports at all. There is a big difference with politics because when the other party wins they advance policies antithetical to the one you agree with. That would be more comparable to wanting an opposing team to lose because it will improve the chances of your team.

You don't understand why people enjoy that their team wins, yet you're trying to understand why a Mets fan would hate on the Yankees?

I thought the Yankees did well in your childhood. Wats rough about that? Who doesn’t like the Yankees? If you’re Lubavitcher, the rebbe was a fan. If you’re not, reb moshe was as well. Trust me.
