Makes sense they sent Jeter as a confederate to run a big league farm system
You better believe it!
Anyone know how much of the $30 million the Marlins are kicking in is during the first 3 years (the part of the contract that will actually be fulfilled)?

Can anyone explain why San Diego would take Headley?

I'll take Headley's grit over Stanton's Me-First homers every day of the week.

In all seriousness, they didn't trade for Headley so much as they traded Headley's salary for Mitchell. They gave up nothing, and the Yankees were looking to dump Headley's salary, so they gave up Mitchell to do that.

I love Jabari Blash. Sure he's superfluous high strikeout righty power but I love his walk rate. He's decent insurance for when Stanton inevitably goes down.

None. Only kicks in if he doesn't opt out, IIRC

Isn't Blash > Mitchell? I know why the Yankees did the salary dump, but I'm trying to see the San Diego angle

It is every team's responsibility to help the Yankees get better. That is their angle. And the Marlins'. And the Reds, Cubs, etc.

That is correct, but apparently that's enough to decrease the AAV for luxury tax purposes

That's assuming the Yankees trade away their other outfield insurance policies.

I'll be honest, I didn't know anything about him until a few minutes ago, but Blash is not much of a prospect anymore - he's 28. He's not very good by most estimations, outside of @Redbull3. Mitchell has a fair amount of upside, and has been ok in major league stints. So no, I think most would say Mitchell > Blash

I think MItchell>Blash, but is that worth giving Headley $12 mil to make up the difference? Seems like Yankees are always able to pick up salary when they need, and dump when they need.

It's not like headley has 0 value.

Look, I like the deal as a Yankee fan. Brian Cashman is very good at his job.

Frazier, signing a one year $3 million deal. Cue the conspiracy theories

I said Frazier would re-sign the day he was traded last year. Only q left to answer is if Harper could play CF? I know Boras wants to think so...

I've had Blash on my fantasy radar for past 2 seasons and even owned him for stretches for his crazy power in my deep nl only. His hr rates everywhere he's been are off the charts, but of course he's got a lot of obvious flaws. Interestingly, the pads cut ties with Schimpf on same day. These 2 guys are the exact same player. High ks, high bbs, and high power. Three true outcomes! I guess pads were sick of that. The adam dunn/jack cust mold. Blash is another version of Chris Carter. But there's definite value there.

Personally I'd like to see Frazier to 1 year deal with Andujar breathing down his neck, and Torreyes keeping the 2b seat warm for Torres.
