The player's were granted immunity for their cooperation. If Manfred is able to substantiate this, he will have grounds to cancel that immunity (and he will be super pissed). I think Altuve gets banned a year if they can prove this.
As I understand it, (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) the reason Cora is facing more severe disciplinary action was because he continued it over multiple years when he brought it to the Sox (if/when that gets proven). Why would Altuve only get 1 year, if the buzzer thing is substantiated, he's clearly been doing it for multiple years as well. Would the be able to re-open and extend AJ Hinch's punishment?
Except multiple sources are what got us to look at these videos in the first place. MLB being unable to find those sources is probably because of a half-donkeyed investigation.
That was my point. It seems clear to me that if they specifically investigated the use of wearable devices and didn't find anything, either they didn't look very hard, or the videos we're seeing are telling us something else (and I have no clue what). Or (and again, I'm not sure of this) did the MLB investigation into the Astros only cover 2017, if so they apparently hadn't gotten that sophisticated back then.
Also this whole "Beltran's niece" thing is kinda weird.
