Of course, I'm sure many of you know the story, but it's worth repeating. In 1988, a minor league buddy of Tommy's asked for a favor. His son was playing ball at Miami-Dade Community College in Florida, and if no one else drafted him, would Tommy be able to get the Dodgers to Draft him. Tommy Obliged, and drafted him with one of the Dodgers last picks - 1,032nd overall.
A year later, the kid is in the minors, and has a chat with Uncle Tommy. He was a first baseman, and Tommy told him that first basemen were easy to come by, and if he really wanted to advance, he should become a catcher. The kid listened, and was brought up to the Dodgers in 1992.
If you haven't guessed by now, that kid is Hall Of Famer Mike Piazza.
