SP didnt go 5.
He was the most effective.
I'm well aware of the rules, and was not in any way stating an opposing view. However, once the SP didn't go 5 it's at the discretion of the official scorer, who could have easily applied the standard of the pitcher who last pitched prior to the half-inning when the winning team took the lead for the last time. Hence it being noteworthy for the official scorer to announce, before the game is even over, that Bumgarner was getting the win if they closed it out.
so are they a dynasty or not?
Absolutely not.
First of all, you're not a dynasty if you completely miss the playoffs every other year. People talk about whether the Spurs are a dynasty despite never winning back-to-back (and to me they're 100% a dynasty), but at least they made the playoffs every year in between.
And second of all, they were never consider the best team/favorite to win it during any of the years they won.
