Marriott has biz and personal, this is two different personal cards with very similar benefits, I see no reason why they need both. Anyone getting one could easily get the other if only one were offered.

I'm wondering if the $89 will be the only one available for applications, and the cheap one will be for PC only.

Why not? They are upping the card benefits and price, but keeping the old one so you can have a cheap option, to deter cancelations. Like the Chase Sapphire card. And Southwest Business Plus. Etc.

How often does the SUB increase on this card? How likely they'll match 80k offer?

To answer my question,
Contacted via SM, they were willing to match the 80k offer after spending $2000, instead of 60k after spending $1000.

any data points on the free night certificate? my anniversary is in Sept. got the letter over Yom Tov. prob doesnt impact me but if there is feedback on how to get what was offered at the time, would love to hear
i called chase and they said T&C are subject to change and this is from IHG not chase

If u opened up your card I think between around January 1 through April 4 u get the full certificate otherwise if u get the certificate after April it's the new limited one

I still have the old IHG ($49/yr), been open for years and years (read: haven't received a *sign-up bonus* in over 24 mo).

If I open the new IHG ($89), will I get the 80K bonus? Will I be able to keep both cards?

If I need to call recon, how do I explain why I want both, beyond saying I want both annual free nights ('cause I don't think that's going to fly)?

My understanding is that all nights were capped at hotels up to 40,000 points, but all nights for the next few months (don't remember exact details) can still be used anywhere

I think it was for certs issued after may 1 but i wasn't sure if it was just for the new card or not.
