Does anyone have any info or opinion on the year-round kosher hotel located around 2 hours+ away from Venice??
It's called "My Kosher Hotel" (located in Canazei)
I was there a few times and I absolutely love that hotel. The only downside is the difficult drive there. My TR can give you a general idea of the area

There was some discussion of it in a thread I can't recall.
I have only good things to say.

Does anyone know anything about the Bais Hachaim in Mantua, Reggio Emilia, Montevada, and Padua?

Are they still in existence? Accessible?

Does anyone know of any driver in Italy who can take people to these (or some of these) cities?

There are a few cemeteries in Padua. I think Mantua is accessible as well. Not sure about the others.

I believe there are some drivers listed in the Venice or Rome thread.

Has anyone been to the kosher hotel in Capri? My mom stayed nearby and had meals there for Shabbos a few years ago, but they're telling me now that I need to be a guest at the hotel in order to eat there (it's over 1k a night and sold out besides).

They'll "allow" me to do takeout  ::) or I guess I can get food from Chabad of Naples...any other ideas?

I had half a mind to complain to the OU (which gives the hechsher).

Actually looks like they have a kosher restaurant at the hotel (rather than it being a "kosher hotel").

Maybe legally, but in practice it isn't asked for.

No. If you get pulled over you could be in trouble. Just get one, they're really cheap.

I just came back from a trip in Italy, didn't need a International driver license.
BTW I almost didn't see cops pulling people. I drove all over northern Italy. My partner speed away and no ticket at all.
So I wouldn't worry. But I personally would obey all rules anyway.

Something we need to know what is law is and what is actually practiced

For example, in Isreal, you have to have at all times a Tudat zehut or a passport. But are ppl arrested or fined for not having one? no
So the Q is is this enforced in Italy?

If all is well with your driving, they're not stopping you to check.  But if there's any reason they check you, you might have a problem.

I am still in middle of writing my Central America mid winter.
Unfortunately I am short of time. Did since then 4 different trips. Which took me around to over 12 new countries on my list, plus 3 which I visited before.

Yep. Good advice.

I was charged for some damage to the vehicle (which was actually my fault) but they wouldn't give me any repair backup so that my Chase Sapphire insurance could reimburse me. After seeing that they weren't planning on sending anything (my guess is they don't repair it and just keep the extra charge as it was a minor scratch), I disputed the charge to give them a reason to provide backup. Next thing I know they email me that they charged me by mistake and they'll refund it...

Another thing to be aware of when driving in Italy, is the multitude of ticket issuing cameras. Aside from speeding, they also have ZTL's which are areas within most cities that are restricted for driving to only locals that have permits. If you do any city driving, you're pretty much guaranteed to hit one of these, as it is all over the place and very easy to miss (there's just a sign with a ticket camera on top). There might be some exemptions for hybrid vehicles, but I never figured out the exact rules.

On the bright side, FWIU, aside from giving it to a collection agency to constantly call you they don't really have a way to enforce these fines on Americans. You'll be charged an "admin fee" per ticket by the rental company though.
I recieved 2 of these tickets and was charged by the rental company like you said for the "admin fee". Now a year later I got the tickets from the italian govermont to my home mail in america.
Can I just ignore it? Will I have problems next time i go to Italy
