He leaves them with the wife and goes diving for 2 days :D
#AishesChayilMiYimtza

Truth is we actually did enjoy having Rafi in Hawaii and BA but we also enjoyed leaving him with Bubby and doing Paris, LA, and BA again without him.
Just very different trips of course.
in my defense, that was a recent development on the Australia trip. prior to that, it didnt happen. and i did leave them at a pretty decent resort... (not to take away from my wife for allowing it, but in case people think im nuts)

I don't blame you one bit, I'm just amazed you found the one woman in the world that would go along with that plan without qualms.

Not really fair to judge that based on one trip where she got sick.
I'd try again.

I've done other shorter ones.

The whole trip revolves around nap time/diaper changes/bored kid, hungry kid, tired kid, yelling in museum kid, trying to get lost kid, tantrumming kid,/ sleeping kid etc. etc.

It is totally not worth it. You can't go anywhere at night for the thirteen hours the kid is sleeping. You need to make hotel arrangements that include separate area for the kid and things to entertain her/him. We took her on a few flights and I felt very sorry for the other passengers although the flight attendants loved her.

Her tantrum on line to get through airport security was such a -spectacularly humiliating- horrible experience it for sure wiped away most of my sins.
Work is what you do between vacations.

There is a crowne plaza in casta la mare - stayed there; very decent hotel and a great location too...

In sorrento there is a Carlton and Hilton

so im putting finishing touches on my italy trip with my wife and wanted everyones thoughts..

1) using UA miles to fly US from PHL to VCE non stop in business 55k miles x 2
2) staying at the danielli for 2 nights total 63k spg
3) staying at the porto cervo in sardenia for 4 days/ 3 nights total 105k spg
4) thinking of either 2 nights the hyatt milan using 44k UR or going to rome at the westin using 40k spg
5) the return flight from MXP or FCO isnt available on UA saver miles so il either hold out and wait or book in economy for 55k UA x 2 for nonstop on UA
6) the taxes and fees il cover with with my amex $200 credit
7) the small flights from VCE to OLB and OLB to FCO amount to about $500 which i will be able to cover with my barclay card

thoughts??

Coast of Italy + Cinque Terre + Tuscany + Amalfi Coast + Naples
« Reply #37 on: July 23, 2013, 02:52:26 AM »
Would like to go to Italy for about 2-3 weeks around August 7th.. Im contemplating renting a car and driving along the coast of Italy, and other charming italian cities. Though my thoughts on renting a car is mixed, on one hand id get lazy and not get the entire feel of getting lost in the city, on the other hand it seems like a pleasure not to shlep suitcases of food and clothing and not having to abide by a specific train schedule and being able to find the quaint italian towns by mistake.
-My question is, does it pay to rent a car in Italy?
-Any cities that are a MUST see?
- Would love to see more of Tuscany ( did Florence and its still my favorite vacation spot as of now. )
- what cities besides Rome, venice and Florence would have kosher restaurants?
- any cities in Amalfi coast are a must?
- Am i making a mistake doing this trip for three weeks as i find Italy has a sort of magic to it.
- tickets are very pricey to Europe last minute, i have a nice chunk of amex points is it worthwhile to book my tickets with points, and what would be the best city to fly into? Rome?
If anyone has any Italy info they would like to share that would be fabulous. Thanks in advance
