Like ChAiM'l said back in Sept, I'm thinking of going to Beijing for a quick 2 days in between SIN and HKG the last week in January.  All we want to see is the Great Wall and Tienanmen Square/Forbidden City. According the Accuweather for 2015 and 2014 Beijing appears to be in the high 30s/low 40s for the highs with little rain/snow. Has anyone gone in the winter before? Is it crazy to arrive from SIN on a Tuesday afternoon and leave on Thursday morning?

From what I've read it barely rains in Jan, it's just cold.

So it looks like we'll try to do to Beijing for a short trip. Is 1.5 days enough, landing Tuesday afternoon and leaving first thing Thursday morning? We really just want to see the Wall and the Forbidden City area.

So what would we do on Tuesday? That wall only takes the morning? Also keep keeping in mind that in Jan the days are short.

Depends which part of the wall you go to and how long. Look at my recent trip report to Beijing.

Maybe explore the city tuesday afternoon a bitv

Maybe, but we can take a SQ J (vs CA J) flight Tue afternoon and get it Tue night if there's not much to do there (and we'd spend more time in SIN). We were thinking if going to the Mutinyahu part, as it seems to be the most popular ( and we won't have to worry about any crowds because it will be the middle of winter). Does that make sense?

Dunno. All I know is I went someplace a bit closer, . In the end the wall is the wall. About 45 min to an hour. Mutinyahu is longer I believe.

But if you leave earlier you will have more time.

What was the place you went to called? I guess you're right, it won't take all day. So would you plan to spend only 1 full day and 2 nights there instead of 1.5 days?
