Regular rate is $280, so it's not such a big difference. What do u like about it so much?

That's like saying regular rate for JFK-LAX RT is $300 ...

Guess it depends when you go. When I was there it was more like $320/night.

Even at $280, 4,800 SPG+$90 is a very good deal.

Its a beautiful hotel and the service (specifically the butler service) was impeccable.

Plus, loved the location for shabbos just around the corner from the downtown Chabad House.

I just didn't care for the city. too big for my liking, lacking in culture.. didn't feel very different from lots of other  western cities/capitals.. huge streets, clean for the most part, found it kinda boring. I enjoyed HK more.. but just my personal preference.

Went to the Silk market, found it to be a total waste of time, my memories from Shenzhen 10 years ago were much better. Tiananmen square and forbidden city didn't catch my eye..

I highly recommend Southeastern asia over beijing.. (Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam..)
i guess taam varayach...
i enjoyed beijing far more than hk. maybe you didnt give it enough time...

The price will be 1000 rmb for everything (gas, toll, parking) except ticket and food.

After some research it seems that the only kosher restaurant in Beijing, which is called Dini's is now located in the Chabad house. Is the Chabad house out of things and far from the main tourist sights?

We are not staying overnight. We land at 145pm and leave at 1:15 am. They close at 930 pm. Does it  make sense to go?

I read that too, that you are only allowed in the city, but it seems that everyone goes to the wall on transit visas without any issues.
