Law School: NY adopting the UBE (Uniformed Bar Exam)
« on: May 15, 2015, 03:15:30 PM »
Is anyone familiar with this?

How does it compare to the old bar exam (Last being test Feb 2016).

There will still be two days of testing. On the day that they previously had NY essays + 50 NY multiple choice questions, there will instead be six essays and two "lawyering skills" exercises. I think the only way that this will be a game changer, is if there is actually greater reciprocity among states for admitted lawyers. It's not clear to me whether this will result in any state reducing the time required for an attorney admitted in NY to waive into the respective state (typically 5 years of good standing practice in the state where the lawyer was originally admitted) or whether any states that currenly have no reciprocity with NY will implement it as a result of the change.
