"Will let you know" is not necessarily a mistaken contraction of "we will". It might be shorthand- with the subject dropped. Like if you had texted "call you back later".

Again, exactly my point. But where do you draw the line? As long as a bunch of lazy/illiterate people change the norm, that becomes correct?
