You’re actually wrong, my sentence was grammatically correct.

I was referring to the spelling and grammar as one unit, one flaw in the article: the English. AKA a compound noun. Now try this sentence:

1) The spelling is atrocious
2) The spelling are atrocious

Where do I go to get my reputation back??
