The rock you live under is so big, you've gotten used to it and don't even realize it's there anymore

Correct. Although I must say, there is a whole lot written about those days, and not tons of clear answers.
there are disagreements amongst the reshonim as to whether life will be the same or will things change such as diseases ceasing  exist but that has nothing to do with gan eden

The ramban in shaar hagmul goes through it all. From אות מט and on. It's on the sefaria app.

gan eden - Heaven for Jews?
Since I've been paged, I will comment, though I am not knowledgeable enough on the topic.

Before commenting on what Gan Eden is, I would ask you to define Heaven, since you are asking if it's the equivalent. It is my (very limited) understanding (or maybe even guess) that the Jewish definition(s) relating to afterlife, are very different than non-Jewish definitions.

In general, as mentioned above there are two meanings to Gan Eden, one being a physical place (which, based on my very limited and cursory reading on the topic, might be considered an "intermediary" "place" between the spiritual world/realm and the physical one, somewhat akin to the קדש הקדשים in the first Temple). The other being a totally spiritual/mystical meaning, which refers to the afterlife.

This is indeed a vast discussion of the topic, which is also available here in a formatted version with subheadings.
The ramban in shaar hagmul goes through it all. From אות מט and on. It's on the sefaria app.

Unfortunately, couldn't find an English version of that, nor could I find much in English about this topic (did you try a Google search, which comes up with this, which I did not properly go through to verify that it doesn't contain anything which is counter to Jewish traditions/beliefs, but seems to give a very brief synopsis).

If anyone has the time to study the topic and post a meaningful English synopsis, I would start here, follow the footnotes and references and study them, specifically this, and possibly this.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

gan eden - Heaven for Jews?
All philosophy and technicalities aside, I imagine in the context you're referring to this is basically correct.

Albeit with the caveat
It is my (very limited) understanding (or maybe even guess) that the Jewish definition(s) relating to afterlife, are very different than non-Jewish definitions.

Son of expatriate.

In context. Presumably a special exclusion to be exempt from Israeli army draft despite being an Israeli citizen.

How did I know this was coming? :)
It comes from the phrase "zrizim makdimin limitzvos" which translates as the quick ones are first for the commandments.
So in short, well done for being quick.

Well since this is the official thread for being pedantic, I don't think that's a good translation. :)

1. I believe zrizim is not so much a function of time, rather of attitude. I'm not sure what the right word is but maybe something like ambitious/dedicated/zealous?
2. makdimim is more like "hasten" than "are first." It's about you doing it right away, not about when you do it relative to others. (although in this case that was definitely a benefit)
3. I'll let @ExGingi comment on if commandments is good for mitzvos

I don't disagree, as I wrote I felt it was somewhat wrong, it's just one of those things that made sense in my head but is hard to put on paper
