What did the Jews of Eretz Yisroel do?
Of course that is what he meant, but what does that have to do with marches?
They reacted as in the days of Purim. They put their regular life on hold and spent days in Teshuva and Tefila. They gathered together in solidarity, but not to march. I wrote an adam gadol because I don't remember who said it, but it was a reliable person who was entitled to express such an opinion.

It was in response to the tweet about not having a solidarity march in Berlin in 1938. That a march wouldn't have done much (as the tweeter implied), but another kind of solidarity might have.

Tizku L`Mitzvos
Tizkeh lmitzvot literally means May you merit [more] mitzvot, and is used as a form of thank you among religious Jews. If someone gives you a lift home, for example, you might thank him/her by saying tizkeh/ki lmitzvot.

As it is a type of blessing, the proper response is Amen. Some add a blessing in return, Tizkeh laasot, meaning, May you merit the performance [of mitzvot].

Behind the blessing of the chance to perform more mitzvot is a fundamental principle in rabbinic thought. Ben Azzai says, One mitzvah pulls along [another] mitzvah . . . a mitzvahs reward is [another] mitzvah (Ethics of the Fathers 4).
Wow, now that is what I call an answer. TY!

So either term can be used. One is not a more accurate translation than the other?

From wedding thread so "engagement party".

The reason the engagement party is called a "Vort" is because it's when the two sides "give their word" that they will get married

Is there a special ceremony/blessing?

Depends.

In more chasidish circles the Vort happens right at the engagement, attended only by extremely close family. Nothing official happens other than a l'chaim. This is often followed by a Tenoyim (literally, agreements) a few days or weeks later, which is attended by a wider circle of family and friends. At the Tenoyim an official contract (hence the name) is signed and read out loud. This contract consists of traditional language and is very rarely modified or customized.

In more Yeshivish circles, the above Vort is called a L'chaim while the Tenoyim is called the Vort. This Yeshivish vort differs from the chasidish Tenoyim by the fact that there is no contract read, only a "word" - hence the naming convention. The actual contract is signed and read at the wedding reception.

And with nobody in Judiasm - let alone two different families - fitting into one particular category, there are many variations of this - but the above is the general framework.
