That usually doesn't work just like that for me. I need to read most of the thread anyway to understand the context in which the keyword was used...

I've taken care of #1, you now need elite status to start a thread on DDF.

Dan posted about it but I think he was getting a ton of emails asking "why can't I start a thread". Something along those lines.
