Broken Laptop Advice
« on: June 04, 2013, 11:43:43 AM »
About 6 months ago I bought a new Lenovo laptop from adorama.  Over the last month, the hinge in the back corner cracked & I am now using a laptop with an open wound.  The tech professional in my office said that there are holes for screw that they didn't use, and mine was just poorly put together (he has the same one with no problem).  There was no unusual wear & tear.  Lenovo says they don't cover physical damage.  Adorama says they only cover for 30 days. I got an estimate to repair at $150-200.  American Express says they only extend the manufacturers warrantee.  Do I have any options, or do I just buy a new one?

Till the Amex warranty kicks in.

Amex told me that all they do is extend the manufacturer's warranty to a year, but won't cover anything the manufacturer won't.

Don't worry - by that time you can find a few other thinfgs that aren't working right and they usually replace the entire laptop for you.
