HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

Never been charged for bags. Last time was about two weeks ago.

First Checked Bag Free
For benefit to apply, the Citi® / AAdvantage® account must be open 7 days prior to air travel, and reservation must include the primary cardmember’s American Airlines AAdvantage® number 7 days prior to air travel. If your credit card account is closed for any reason, these benefits will be cancelled.

Is the “reservation must include the primary cardmember’s American Airlines AAdvantage® number 7 days prior to air travel” rule always enforced? Meaning you can never get the free bag for a flight booked less than 7 days out?

Downgrading is considered closing the card.

No it's not enforced, my experience today

I have the Barclays Aviator and the Citi AA , Aviator refunded the AF, and the Citi AA will not refund, so I really have no use for it at this time since I have the Aviator personal and business. What cards can the Citi AAdvantage card be changed or downgraded to. I used to have two of them and last year I downgraded one to Double Cash.
I know I can downgraded to the newer no annual fee version which gives 2 miles at supermarkets which is actually better than this one, to Double Cash, to the discontinued Citi Dividend. Any other cards, what is the better card to go for.    Last I do not mind to change it to a card with an AF like one that collects Thank You points if allowed.
Also if I downgrade it or product change, how long to wait before applying again if I ever need to. TIA

Take a look at their new rewards+ card which earns a minimum of 10 points per transaction.

Thanks. This is Thank You points right? I am not much familiar with TY points, with this no fee card you can't transfer to airlines, you'll need to have another card with a fee also, to transfer?

It does earn TYP, although I believe you are correct with the latter part.

Both the Barclay & Citi AA cards  benefit are bring DOWNGRADED= NO MORE 10% MILEAGE REDEMPTION CREDIT ANNUALLY. The barclay AA from for those who had it from US airways will lose 10k annual bonus miles.

I already canceled 2 of my citi AA cards last year and downgraded one Citi AA card to no fee AA card. my wife and I now have Barclay red AA card each and paying fee ONLY because of the free checked bag when we travel usually only once or twice a year the max. If not for free checked bags, I would easily cancel.

I think one of us should cancel to avoid the fee. They never offered any retention this and last year. What will you do?

Same, I will downgrade the 2 Citi cards this week, AF just hit , I had them for 5 years, and I have also the business card, Barclays we have 2 Aviator and one business, I think I'll just keep one card. If they cancelled the benefits you mentioned, they become useless to me, I had the Aviators from US Airways.

Can someone educate me about the following?

"If you are a legacy US Airways cardholder then you’ve continue to receive a bonus 10,000 miles each year at card renewal. Unfortunately this will also be removed. Card members will continue to receive one last 10,000 mile benefit the first time they pay a $99 annual fee".?

We have the the card for many years and wife paid her fee a month ago and I was just charged AF $89.  Don't know why many are saying this card has $95 fee. We did receive 10k miles one month before AF came up. Is this right or we got the Anniversary 10k miles for paying the AF last year 11 months ago?  Will I get the 10k bonus miles again next year? If NOT, I have to save AF and cancel the card. confused about the language.
Thanks

I booked AA through BA
Will I be able to use the 1st bag free benefit?

From the T&C
"reservation must include the primary credit cardmember's American Airlines AAdvantage® number 7 days prior to air travel"
Is this enforced? I only see my BA FF number and I don't see where I can add my AA number

Not sure. But you can add it on AA.com your BA email should have AA record locator

You have to call AA and they add it and you will get a free bag.
