HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

You don't have a reliable friend who could use some extra cash flow in his business for a few weeks?
No... Is that a common type of friend to have..?

thanks! found it. I feel dumb for wimping out on the 10k threshold now.
my issue isn't the spending -- It's how to get the $200 credit, earn/save the bonus miles, and cancel the card to get back the $450 all within the first 30 days!?

this is annoying: i called citi when i got bro's card 2 extend closing date. They told me would'nt close till march. three days later it closed with annual fee and credit. worse part is that there was 9,875$ posted while the remaining charge that would of bumped over 10k was still pending. So no points. got citi to waive any interest fees till the due date that i was told(end of march) but that still leaves me stuck with annual fee. Is there anyway I can try to get them to expidiate points? do they ever do that as courtesy ( say important flight to book) when does the 30 day for af refund hit? anyway to get next statement and day of cancel and still get refund?

Just curious did you get the 200? I noticed that on mine that I switched the date I didn't get 200 right away but on my wife that I left alone I did get it.

What a second application is like:
Rep from South Dakota transferred the call to Maryland.
Prior to reviewing the application, Maryland rep noted that this is second Exec application in two weeks. She just wanted to clarify that the bonus may not come a second time.
After a hold of two minutes, rep reported that current combined credit line is very high (due to a bunch of hibernating vanillas). She offered either to approve me of $5K credit line, or to close a vanilla for $10K+. Can you guess the right choice?

Before you ask, EX CR doesn’t need to look pretty.

Did they look at 6 or 12 months?

No idea... I wasn't exactly asking questions, as I wasn't trying to put any ideas in there head.
But FT claims that they will only balk if you have more than six CITI inquries on CR in less than six months.

But CR had about eight hits in the last six months.

They were being very firm with denying me and only having one Citi pull in six months and three in twelve.

Did you offer to move credit around?
I did this preemptively, based on FT advice.

I did. They weren't happy with how my report looked over twelve months and used that as the reason. I'll HUCA again, but they seemed pretty set, even after i had a banker call in for me.

had a conference with a citi and aa rep. The account is set up correctly on citi side, they are waiting for confirmation from aa. Aa rep made a note of the cc number and sent it up to escalate the verification so that linkage will happen.

I think you mean 6 inquires period, not 6 Citi ones.
