HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

my second question has nothing to do with the first
Ahh.

IMHO, i think applying before closing is the better option. I can't imagine fielding a "why are you applying right after you closed this card" question as pleasant.

Dan once said in a main site post that paying off your credit card from a 3rd party can lead to shutdown. Does this apply to husband and wife as well. So if I pay my wife's discover card from my bank of america account that would be an issue? thanks in advance

Thank you very much AJK, you're becoming my favorite person on the forum because of how willing to help you are. And quick! While I'm on this topic, do you mind answering which banks I should worry about that for? I'm assuming I'm ok with any bank as long as I pay from my wife and I's joint Chase Account to a credit card in any of our names. Am I correct about this?

The thing I'm not sure about is if I want to start buying VR and gift cards with Amex would it be best to just keep Chase out of it and run throgh my Capital one acciunt? That way Chase wont see too much activity in my checking account, and I would just leave Chase to pay off my chase cards. Thanks a lot and much hatslacha.

I just got such a mess: applied for buiz & personal in nov. with ex frozen. hucad till they pulled eq for personal but wouldnt do buiz. reapplied in jan 4 buiz( after 60 day they said 2 wait) hoping 4 eq pull same sitch. then came this card which i applied for ( might have been 7 days later). was told 2 unfreeze ex so wrote 2 stork asking 2 pull from eq( had a whole story y couldnt do ex) i got a letter and spoke 2 them at office of presidents and they said i have 2 many apps on file even though they only proccessed 1!! therefore duplicate  apps blah blah..I called the number for these apps( the 1 on dd) i offered to unblock and they told me now that its been reviewed by office of presidents they cant process!!! talk about getting screwed!! worst part is they cant even give me a time frame when I can apply again w/o bumping into this issue...
The question is should I huca this? reapply and hope for an instant with unblocked ex?

Well, you're welcome. And amen!

If it's a joint account, I would not worry about it.

I'd ask the second part of your question here:

When Storking, do you need to include any personal info other than name and address (e.g. SSN, DOB)?
I don't have an application ID.

Duplicate from having one executive card prior.

Come to think of it, the second executive application violated the "65 day rule".
On the other hand, the "65 day rule" didn't seem to stop Citi from approving my application.

It was posted on a different blog saying they thought it may be end of March. Reasoning was they received this offer in the mail and it was expiring end of March...
