HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

Do points post if spending was done before closing a card (before statement closed)?

I remember someone saying something to this effect.

Miles only post at statement closing

Of course, but does it post even if card was closed?

Thinking back I got spending points after closing the card. Bonus was on the previous statement though.

What did they give you trouble with?

"You have already that same card, in fact, we JUST approved you!"...

Again, again, and again, huca after huca,

They truly suck.

(It's for my 2nd one of course, I should add)

Don't think you can say that after many people were able to get a second card with almost no issues.

Did you try explaining that you want to split spending and thats why you want a second card?

I'm surprised most people here did not have any issue whatsoever. Is it possible that something may have shown up on your credit report recently to make them question you?

That doesn't make their recon department any better

How long do people wait after closing a citi account to apply for the next executive card?

(closing because of being at citi's lending limit for me)
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

"You have already that same card, in fact, we JUST approved you!"...

Again, again, and again, huca after huca,

(It's for my 2nd one of course, I should add)

Wow!

Truly amazing.

After telling citi recon non stop that I need a 2nd Executive for different king of spending, but nothing would move the needle,

I called back (just to give it one last shot) and told them that "not only do I need two cards for diff spending, but it actually needs to be the 'same kind' of card, and if they can't get me another one of the same I'll be forced to close the first card right now too (which was anyway on plan...), And I'll have to see what Chase or Amex has to offer"...

But even that didn't move the rep...
And she was very sorry, but couldn't do anything etc. and gave me the number where I can close the first one...

So I hung up thinking that that's it...

Until...

Until something amazing happened:

THE REP CALLED ME BACK FIVE MINUTES LATER!! Just to add my cell phone to the app and approve me for 8k "no questions asked"!!...

The power of... Citi's weakness!
