HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

I went through 5 pages of your posts to find that. I don't think you can give me grief for not searching more than that.

What about the other several posters who commented?

Or this?

There is no way to expedite; they'll post second statement. You're either stuck paying the annual fee or risk losing the 100K.

I'm a big fan of DROPR but it doesn't seem like anyone actually managed to use it out of the country.

My two execs were second and third card in sixty day period (after a vanilla), as I reported upthread.
I don't see why three execs would be different.

You actually posted that as a reply to me when I asked about it not posting. That was before I saw that it wasn't reported so this is a different question now.

JUST GOT THIS EMAIL FROM AA! :'( :'(
Dear Mr. ****,
My name is *****, and I am an analyst with American Airlines. One of my responsibilities is investigating possible instances of fraud, misrepresentation, and violations of the General AAdvantage Program Conditions. Today, I’m writing you about your AAdvantage account # ******.
We have reason to believe that the transaction listed below violates one or more of the AAdvantage program conditions. This includes, but is not limited to, prohibition of purchase, sale, or barter of mileage credit and/or award tickets. As a result, American Airlines has suspended your AAdvantage membership privileges – and may terminate your account as a result of our findings. We are in the process of completing the investigation into this matter, and I would like to hear the events as they occurred from your perspective. Please respond to this message by March 25, 2014 with complete and accurate information regarding the activity listed below:

1.                April 23, 2013  –   2 52,500 mileage awards  – 1 passenger

Required Information:
Passenger name
Origin and destination cities on the travel itinerary
Purchaser name (individual, company and/or website), including:
·   Copy of any advertisements to which you responded offering to purchase/broker the use of your AAdvantage miles
Purchaser contact information, such as:
·   Mailing address
·   Email address
·   Telephone number
·   Website profile name
Your statement fully disclosing the details surrounding the sale/barter transaction referenced above
Copy of all communication between yourself and the purchaser
Documentation that you received payment

To protect and retain the integrity of the AAdvantage program, it is vital that firm action be taken as a result of any violation of the AAdvantage Program Conditions, whether intentional or not. Failure to respond completely and accurately by March 25, 2014 will result in the termination of your AAdvantage membership and all its benefits, including all remaining AAdvantage miles in your account.

Please understand that our overall motivation is to preserve the benefits of the AAdvantage program, rather than to take punitive action against individuals. To that end, it’s not unusual for us to release the AAdvantage account suspension once we receive all the detail we request and reconcile it with the results of our investigation. We hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,

1. Depends, can you fly somewhere tonight ;)
2. Emails generally have a return address...
3. Passenger and/or IP and/or credit card and/or phone number was flagged and all past bookings are examined.
4. Unless you rat out the broker as requested, probably not. Even then, who knows.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Best chance is saying the truth and try to ask for some mercy. Lying won't help.

Do you think they're stupid?
They don't send out that email unless they're 99.99% sure that you brokered the ticket.  When they see a passenger has flown on award tickets from several accounts they'll just shutdown all of those account.

Don't mess with these guys.  At most say the truth and that you don't have emails from a year ago and that it happened just once and beg for mercy. YMMV (literally).

When AA reviews transactions, how far back do they typically go?  Meaning, will a transaction done six months ago or more still be a potential risk?

Sorry - now see 2013...woah.  These guys mean business.  That being said, what is the longest period of time back that they usually investigate?

Don't sell your points unless you are prepared to risk this type of action.  Use your points to go on a nice vacation to some exotic destination and live comfortably that your mileage accounts will not be shut down...

Is it really worth the risk?

Agreed.  I'm no longer selling anything.  Squirreling them all away.
