HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

I'd assume they'll flag any additional reservations made.
And they'll tell you that you should've known the T&Cs.
From their perspective, they can save money by closing you account and canceling any future flights booked out of it. Your pleading ignorance is unlikely to help, but it's no worse than any other option you have, so you can try, and then report back here.
Is there a phone number to get throgh to them or gotta go through email?

Anybody else have this:
Almost 2 month ago I signed up for the executive card with the 100k and $200 statement credit promo. I received the letter confirming the sign up bonus. I haven't reached the 10k threshold yet but have spent over 8k. However, I only got a $95 statement credit.
Strange my credit was done on two different statements but ultimately totalled 200. Did you try sending them a SM?

Aha so maybe I'll get the rest on the next statement. Tried sending an SM This morning but was having issues with their website. Will try again later.

1. Was anyone ever shut just for booking a single ticket to someone else? meaning the account owner did the whole reservation used his own credit card, didn't use  refundable for spending, just the passenger was blacklisted, is that a legitimate reason they should close an account?

2. Is closing a credit card after earning the signup bonus to avoid AF a reason they should close an account? I mean it doesn't say that the account has to remain open for a certain amount of time.

I opened my card on the 8th statement closes on the 25th. Is this unusually long or other people have had such time as well?

Do you think they're stupid?
They don't send out that email unless they're 99.99% sure that you brokered the ticket.  When they see a passenger has flown on award tickets from several accounts they'll just shutdown all of those account.

Don't mess with these guys.  At most say the truth and that you don't have emails from a year ago and that it happened just once and beg for mercy. YMMV (literally).
The chances of preventing a closure are very very slim. It has happened but it's very rare.
Like Dan said, take a trip somewhere tonight ;)

I think I opened mine on the 7th and it closes on the 24th.
