HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

They didn't ask about the sale of miles.
He should send the legit proof for what they asked ASAP

That's exactly what I'm asking: is all they r after the purchases or is it some how connected to the sale & therefore closure is imminent ? I have no reason to think it should just seems so strange to be after the purchases, thought maybe the old miles were triggering s/t

If it's any conciliation, at least you took one for the team and saved everyone from jumping head first.

Thanks for the feedback

Happened to my wife. Got it closed like 3 or 4 years ago and i ofrgot about it. Signed up for new citi aa card and never got miles, eventually i looked into it and found she was banned.
Did your wife use the old FFN for her new aa card?

Update: 2nd email from aa says flight is canceled & the usual selling miles email . Though they keep mentioning refundable tickets which never happened..any1 have any luck claiming miles account( & cc used for booking )were hacked or they knew the passenger ? Does it make sense the passanger is flagged ?

Meanwhile the travel agent who said b4 hand if anything happens will still pay is now saying they won't because the account must have been dirty ( it wasn't ) or that since the miles were re-instated it's a known trigger(bs).. Bottom line learn with a Litvak, daven with a chasid but do Buisness with a goy!!!

If u only heard the warped arguments he was throwing at me.. Your not losing $$ since u only signed up for card  u never earned it. Stealing is no different than any other averah & since we all do averos he is no worse.. Since account flagged they don't pay for that because they only pay for clean accounts..
I think always but especially with an apparent crackdown if u sell miles only do so to a trust-worthy guy. Get $$ up front & if not at least have in writing what will happen if account gets shut.

As for this guy if he doesn't either pay or b willing to go to din Torah I will warn off others of who he is..

I don't really agree with him but I can understand some of his points.

Look at it this way. He needs to shell out serious money for getting nothing. While for you, it's definitely a lost opportunity, but probably not as painful. Also, if the closure was due to the previous suspicion on your account, you may have gotten shut down regardless of who you sold it to. So you basically sold a dead horse and are insisting that he pay.

Again, I'm not sure who's right but just before you launch an all out war, try to understand the brokers perspective.

-$5000

He is running a business with almost zero overhead and amazing margins. A little risk should be acceptable.

+$5000

But in absence of an agreement of who accepts the closure risk (especially in the case of an account which may have been closed regardless of whom he would sell to), why should the broker voluntarily swallow that?

I'm no rabbi, but this dude shouldn't be so 1 million percent sure that a din Torah goes in his favor.
