Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

+$5000

But in absence of an agreement of who accepts the closure risk (especially in the case of an account which may have been closed regardless of whom he would sell to), why should the broker voluntarily swallow that?

I'm no rabbi, but this dude shouldn't be so 1 million percent sure that a din Torah goes in his favor.
1- let's remember that points are worth keeping even if you cant sell because you are flagged.
2-he can sell to family members that fly a lot that would avoid a shutdown
3-there is nothing indicating the account was flagged, it could of been the ip address or the passenger or a 100 other triggers who knows..
4-i specifically asked him a few weeks ago since i knew there were many shutdowns and he assured me if the account gets shut then he will take the hit as long as i don't lie and sell him a dirty account-that was defined as any account that sold miles in past 12 month or used bad spending to earn them (this was neither)
5-the industry standard is for buyer to assume risk
6-I told him that i would like to go to a rav and he flat out refused...

From the facts you're laying down you sound correct and that he definitely owes you the money.

industry standard is that whoever owns the account at time of shutdown takes the loss, assuming summer didn't lie about health of account and was not earned in a risky way.

Regarding citi's claim that AA upgraded the system so miles aren't reporting, my other citi AA card (not exec) had the miles reported.
Do you think this is just a tactic from citi to hold off on giving the miles to make sure the cards aren't canceled to avoid AF?

No.. This actually is a issue. I have a cc from November that the miles still aren't posting. I just don't understand how this isn't something that should be fixed easily.
You may not hold me responsible for any actions taken that were recommended from my account or username.

I have reactivated old miles and my account is fine… for the time being

Excuse my ignorance but how do you reactivate old miles with an exec card? even miles that expired ten years ago?

Google reactivating old AA Miles. Its a challenge where you pay to activate your old miles and you have to either spend or fly a certain amount depending on the amount of miles. If you are anyways spending 10k then it may make sense to do the challenge as well.

Funny I was wondering the same thing, meaning if by transferring to US Airways the miles will be safe. I don't see what you can lose. When will we be able to do that?
