HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

You may do it, but that's foolish, IMHO.

Why in the world would that convince a recon specialist he or she should give you card number X? So you can further fleece his or her employer?

I certainly hear you, it shouldn't (and probably doesn't) help my case... but I think it's different strokes for different folks. I have had more success with "real conversations" and I almost always mention wanting more points in those. I just have a hard time talking about splitting spending, needing MC for Sams club, etc. Maybe I'm just a bad liar.

I have no doubt that you'll find a recon specialist who may appreciate the game, or may appreciate you want to fly for free. I just imagine it's probably harder to find them, so why risk it?

And I don't advocate lying.

I called up citi to close my Platinum card, they said they wouldn't be able to transfer the credit line to an other citi card I have. I dont want to loose my credit line as it bad for your credit to loose credit line.

Does anyone have more info on this?

Depending how much credit you may have allowed to you to begin with losing this particular credit line may not do any serious harm to your credit score at all especially because you can get the same CL back on a different card that you open.
Why wont they transfer my credit line?
Citi does not seem to be a fan of transferring CL they told me the same thing and others upthread have encountered the same response from them.

They don't seem to transfer without a hard pull.

Hey, gang-

Looking for some data points from you sage advisors... I met the minimum spend on my Citi 100K card, but nothing reported to AA (got the canned "wait till 3/31" email"). My questions is this... Any truth to the rumor that you can't have more than one Citi CC bonus post to your account in the same month? I have a 2nd Citi 100K card that I am waiting to hit the minimum spend on until this is resolved, but I only have a few more weeks before my 90 day window closes. I'm not worried about the miles not posting, but rather that they post in the same month/statement cycle. I'd hate to lose out on the 100K miles because it gets flagged as a duplicate bonus.

TIA for your thoughts.

Does anyone know?
How long does it take to go from the 110k earned and 0 transferred to AA to getting it transferred into the new AA account? Meaning in how long will an aadvantage account be opened that I can actually use the points?
You just have to be patient. It should show up within a few days.
