Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

Anyone else do #3 besides for Dan ?
Is it 2 cards every 60 days or 65 days ?
This card has different rules.
I got approved this morning for the 3th card.
Recon was easier then the recon for the second card and recon for the second card was far easier then recon for the first card.
Airlines sending me "We're in this together" emails.

Bruh, where were you when my suitcase weighed it 51.50 pounds?

You got denied for each card?  What reasons did they provide?

Denial reason #1. "You already have same card"
#2. "You have max amount credit we can offer you"

After being denied multiple times for the above reasons, I called up saying that either they approve me for a 2nd or else I'll close the first one since one card doesn't work for me, it's either 2 or 0, and it worked magic.

(In fact, a friend on mine was approved just today, with the exact same scenario)

Good luck!

I doubt it will make a practical difference, but Greg pointed out that they changed the language on the application on 3/30 to say "This offer is only valid for new accounts".

Yet somehow Dan was able to pull it off. Although the language seems pretty explicit "This Citi® / AAdvantage® card offer is only valid for new applicants for a Citi® / AAdvantage® account applied for by May 15, 2014, pursuant to this offer and is not available to existing cardmembers or recent applicants for a Citi® / AAdvantage® credit card. "

Dan care to comment?

When I called in to verify my cell# for my second card app (both mine and the MRS), I confirmed with the rep that the 100k offer was stickied to both...

Anyone have the offer verified on the third app?

1. I doubt it will change anything
2. Dan doesn't have his bonus miles yet (or at least that's how it appeared to me), he was just approved for a third card.

Is there any way to avoid close in fees when booking an AA award flight with any of the cc's?

I love this site. With the posted batting averages on success on round 3, I decided to jump in for myself and my wife although in NJ and those Experian pulls are painful (especially after freezer died).

The results:

For myself I had closed 1 of the first 2 cards, but no mention of it when I called and easily approved.

For my wife, both cards had been closed and I even had a $8K balance still due before due date, AND SHE GOT INSTANT APPROVAL.

Thanks again Dan and everyone for info and guts to pull this off.
