Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

I just applied for a Citi platinum select card AA card a few days ago and I got the following message:

Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select®

Thank you. We have received your application and further processing is required at this time. You may check back in 24 hours to see if a decision has been determined. We will contact you within 1 week via mail/email regarding our decision. Thank you for requesting a Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select®.

I've been approved instantly for my other cards including Chase Saphire, Freedom, BA and Barclays USairways cards so I am therefore unfamiliar with this process, should I call recon already or should I wait until a week passes and see what happens? Additionally can I apply for other cards from other banks such as Chase in the meanwhile?

PUTPAC!

PUTPAC!

Thanks! We realized through our discussion that I had mistakenly entered my social incorrectly in my app...pretty silly...

Can I apply for other cards now like 2 chase southwest cards or 2 barclays cards or should I wait?

I've been instantly approved for any cc I applied for aside for this Citi one but that is because I put down my social incorrectly, I don't know what my credit score is though...

My question was is it pulling from a different bureu?

When it lists different states what does it go by, where you applied from (IP adress) or home address?

A recent Citi app of mine in NY pulled from Equifax. Go figure.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

I believe it may be linked to the AA FFN number. Make sure you have that on reservation, but you can probably get them to do it at airport with some nudging.

Interestingly, I was reading the information that comes with the card, and it does not mention any requirement to pay with the card...

Because it's not required.

Because it's not required.

That's why I posted... Others up thread suggested that it would take some nudging at the airport

The 12-18 month rule between citi aa personal cards, is from approval of the card, or from when the card is canceled?

I am about to apply for the citi aa card,  is there any specific requirements what I need to have in order to get approved?  I have 2 amex card for about 6 months with a decent credit score is there anything what I should take in mind before applying?
