HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

Thanks for the quick response, do you know when the annual fee usually post to the account? is it the same time with the first statement post?
A day before the statement closes.

Usually. But if the first statement was very close to when you got the card, it will post on the 2nd statement.

By then hopefully they will have the points in the account.

I've found Citi is very inconsistent with regard to when AF posts.

I applied and got denied for a Citi card a little while ago. How can I find out the exact date that happened so I know whether I'm within 65 days or not? Do they email you when you're denied? I forgot...

I guess maybe you can just try going back in your emails to the date you think around you signed up for it and see if you find it.

There is language that you cannot get this bonus again if you have had this card.  Is this new on citi cards?  do they enforce this rule?

can anyone clarify- if i signed up for citi gold aa advantage card approx. a year ago (i signed up right after for plat aa card but got denied based on that i just got bonus for gold) and now i want to make another attempt to sign up for the platnum select card, what should i do? you think i get approved bec enough time passed from when i got the bonus from the gold/ btw gold is closed as of approx. 4 months ago.

"American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles are not available if you have had a Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Card opened or closed in the past 18 months." --this is where i get/got confused of how things work with citi-i gusess unlike amex citi doesnt really consider gold and plat two separate products-because when i signed up and got bonus for aa gold and then signed up shortly after for plat i should have qualified based off logic but they said its not possible.

citi is very frustrating to deal with as its very hard to get a strait answer from anyone. so even though it has the specific language for each type of card for the 18 month rule they still say (at least one agent) that i should still wait the 18 months before applying for any other city card.

Gold no longer affects Platinum, you'll get the bonus.
