HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

International flights get a free bag regardless of card or status.
The Barclay AA card has the same benefits and no forex fees. Very easy to get the fee waived.

I just flew to Cabo, no free checked bag. I was extremely surprised.

Pretty easy to get the annual fee back as a statement credit, why not try that? Just call and tell then that it isn't worth $95 to you.
Very easy to get the fee waived.
I just tried to get the fee waived for like the third year or something and this time they told me the only offer they have is 5,000 miles.
I really am not interested in buying miles right now.
Has anyone had them waive the fee recently?

Tell them you have the Barclay Aviator card and that the AF is the same but that card has better perks. That's what I did. Once I said that, I got the $95 Statement Credit offer plus 1,000 bonus points for each month that I spend $1000+ right away.

I finished my $7.5k spend on my executive card, after the first cycle closed. If I change the closing day of  my second cycle, to an earlier date, ( to get the miles quicker ) will that mess up the miles posting to my AA account ?

Nothing to do, it's been like this since October 2014 when they added the 18 month language into their apps.

This is wrong. I just flew to Cancun and the fee was not waived. I have both the AA buisness and Barclays AA aviator card tied to my mileage program. Both of them clearly say on the website that the free bag is for domestic flights only.

just got this email:

The $100 American Airlines flight discount benefit earned each cardmembership year after spending $30,000 is being discontinued
This benefit will be discontinued on your cardmember anniversary date after November 15, 2015. Your cardmember anniversary is the date you are billed your annual fee each year.

A completely stam data point but I'll post. Maybe it'll help someone.
I had a flight to purchase (delta), so decided to put on this card when I got it. Anyway, purchase was flagged and didn't go through, but remained pending forever. Spoke to a bunch of reps and none would remove. Finally tonight got rep who removed immediately.

If I am pre approved for spending double my credit line using the no preset spend feature on my citi executive card, is it still a risky/stupid thing to do?

You have to pay the total amount over the credit limit plus the minimum amount due by the due date. At least that's what I was told by a customer service representative.

I know. I'm asking whether doing it in general is risky.

I did it once with no issues. I had M$ it heavily right before a long trip and the payments had not yet posted. I wanted to use the card on the trip for R$ but had an insufficient CL. I called and was approved for 2x over the CL. It was a weekend but by the time Monday rolled around it was a non-issue as the prior payments had posted. But for a few days, I was well over the credit limit. Of couse it was PIFd before statement close.

Little to no risk. If you plan on churning your CL that is a different story.
