HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

Check  FT for some 50k links.
Personal and business platinum should be 50k/3k. There are plenty of links out there for this.
Thanks. Post updated. I should've seen those. ::)
Any answers to the other questions?

The wiki says:
If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then.

But the FT wiki says:
13. Which credit bureau does Citi pull and can I force them to use a different one?
Citi appears to use Experian most frequently, followed by Equifax. For some people they pull both. It depends on where you are located. You can check the Credit Boards database to see where card issuers have pulled recently.
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. Which one is right? ::)

Very nice. Thanks!

It says there: A security freeze is designed to prevent credit, loans and services from being approved in your name without your consent but may also delay or interfere with or prohibit the timely approval of any subsequent requests or application you make regarding new credit, loans or services.

No need to worry that it will cause the app to be denied?

Not with citi, if based in N.Y.

With other banks ymmv, you can usually call in to give them the pin to manually pull EX.

The wiki here, http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/citi-thankyou-rewards/1739958-citi-aa-executive-mastercard-60k-5000-90-days.html says:
"Advice to those new to Citi American Airlines cards: If you are just starting out please apply and use the lower level citi AA card for a while before moving on to this thread and card. This will help you in the long run in more ways than one. Most of us here have opened and used lower level AA cards before moving on to this thread and card."
Can someone explain the reasons for this? In other words, what's wrong with starting out with both executive and platinum? Thanks.

Do the apps need to be separated by 8 days + only 2 apps within 60 days?
Thanks!
According to Dan, last year, http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/64144: Citibank doesn’t generally allow 2BMs, though you can apply for one card, wait 8 days, and then apply for another Citi card. You would have to wait 60 days from the date of your first card application before you can apply for a 3rd Citi card and 60 days from the date of your second card application before you can apply for a 4th Citi card.

Is this still accurate?
Thanks.

Yes. No more than 1 card in seven days, or two cards in sixty days.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Nooo :(. Is the loophole really closed? I have a card that got upgraded to WE several months ago. Are there no special links to get the Citi AA Plat after having a card convert to WE?

Can someone clarify the Citi 8 day rule? If I apply on July 1 for one card, when can I apply for the second card, July 8 or July 9? Thanks.
