Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

I got the Citi AA card (personal) a year ago and when my AF came around, I called up Citi to downgrade the card and they offered to waive the fee. My wife's AF just hit now. I see on their site "American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles are not available if you have had any Citi® / AAdvantage® card (other than a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® card) opened or closed in the past 24 months." If I would want to receive the sign up bonus again, would it be a better idea to cancel the card, which would probably start the 24 month clock again, or should I leave it and try to sign up for another card again in one year?
Also, anyone know what the card can downgrade to? The rep said she couldn't find any free cards to transfer my credit line to.
Thanks

up to you...for many of us, once in awhile, a application link w/o 24 month language pops up and people apply for & get the bonus.

IIRC, no US card has chip + pin, it's only chip + signature.

Barclaycard arrival is chip and pin. At unattended terminals only.

If this has been asked before I apologize.

I applied for the 2 AA 60k miles cards. The business was approved, but the personal was not. I called reconsideration. The first lady I spoke to told me that there have been too many credit pulls (which is incorrect). I spoke to a supervisor and she confirmed that she didn't see a lot of credit pulls. She told me she could send it to the reconsideration team for a second look but she couldn't approve herself. She said it will take 2-3 weeks.

I've called reconsideration before for different cards and they've always approved on the spot. Does Citi not allow reps to approve on the spot? Should I wait or should I be calling again to speak to someone else?

9 digits are fine, 12 usually aren't.

Does it let you change the name?

you are saying even if it lets me change the name, it is still auto decline and counts toward 2/65. so basically the 12 digit ones are garbage?

I've seen some reports of it not letting you change last name and some where it did. Either way you it probably won't work.

yes, unles theyre in ur name of course. you can probably use them for the name on them if you fill out all the other info as yours and then call in that you put the wrong name on the application by mistake, but...

I recently closed my AA Platinum Select card when the AF hit. I applied for the CitiBusiness card but got denied. When I called them up, the reason they gave for denying me was credit history. They said I needed 60 months of history with Citi specifically. They insisted that was the reason I was denied and refused to do anything. I recently got about 6 offers in the mail, saying I was preselected for AA card offers, such as the gold card, the platinum card (again) and the business card (again). I figured I would apply for the gold card (no language) but I've been seeing that you can't have any AA cards, no matter which one, if you opened or closed a card in the family recently. Is there any way to get around this? They keep sending me offers...Also, could it be the business card was denied for this reason? I always thought personal and business are totally separate.
