HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

#1 No AA plat cards are issued as WE. They all start as  W MC and  in the old days some were Visa not MC.

Wifes Card is almost certainly  a WE also , otherwise its very unlikely  you would see it listed as a pre qual or " cards you  may like " .

Log into her account , go to profiles  and settings > set default card and you will see her AA Plat select card listed .
If it says Plat Select without  the words World Mastercard it has been converted .

You should verify this before you proceed , but I would bet it converted and you didnt notice it .
Do this on both cards before you do anything else or Citi will flag you.
FYI as far as I know, no one has ever been offered a prequal AA card , until their World has become a WE .
Do this and post back for the next steps.

With one of the FT Wiki links (the link in the wiki here redirects to the 30k offer not 50k), i`m pretty sure it was travel5.citicards

Yes you are good to go . There are new reports on FT of people not getting the bonus , all depending which link they used to apply . Did you get welcome letter yet on first card ?

It Now would be safer to apply using that " cards you may like " link and ask for a match to
50 K OR just settle for 40K .

Or see if the link you used , got you the welcome bonus letter if you can wait . If so , use the same link for this card . Otherwise 40 K in the hand is better than gambling on 50-60

No.

You can SM them and ask by when you need to complete spending to receive the bonus. If they tell you that you wont get the bonus, no point in spending.

Don't ask them anything more than that. Do you see a bonus tracker linked to your account ? Citi has changed tremendously in the last week !
