HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

Recently applied for the Citi AAdvantage card without the 24 month language. Unfortunately I was denied. Called recon and they told me I had to wait for the denial letter in the mail. The letter says I was denied due to "too many recent inquiries" and "your credit report reflects a lack of recent installment loan information". I don't even know what the last reason means!

Called recona few times after receiving the letter and they tell me the system literally won't let them reconsider me / that this is what they call a "systematic denial" done automatically. They supposedly pulled experian, but I'm not sure how to check if I actually have a hard pull from them. Anyone have experience with these types of denials?

They denied you for not having any installment loans (student loans, auto loans, etc). They wanted to see more diversification of your debt and your ability to make consistent payments.

as Doctor of Credit reported Citi seems to be matching to 60K if you recently signed up for 50K.  Just got mine

Dear Valued Customer,

I have added 10,000 miles to your account to match the offer that you
received.

Keep in mind that in order to receive the 50,000 bonus miles you need to

earning bonus miles or statement credits. Merchant returns will reduce
the spend amount.

There's a targeted 60k mailer out there now.  That's probably why.

What's interesting is that it seems like citi cardmembers are going to board before barclay cardmembers.

Putting aside the now 10 boarding zones, IME, when the Citi AA cards "won out" it was Priority and when Barclays Red Aviator (I had Citi, DW had red - depending on who the reservations account was booked through), we'd be Group 1.

Got letter with bonus, but bonus tracker isn't showing up on my online account. Does that mean I don't qualify? Does the tracker usually show up immediately?
