Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

are they clawing back the signup bonus, or the flight bonus?

Story was in a case of only a purchase bonus.
And as long as they don't go to AA, it doesn’t matter what they claw back. You just stop spending on the card, just like you would have done in any case.

Thanks to those who encouraged me to go for the Citi today.
I just got immediately approved for an 8,500 CL using the Flyer Talk 50k link.

Update: And now I just did the business and got instant approval there as well. Let's see if the 2BM worked. They were five minutes apart from each other.

For some reason, other than the part of the limit on cards within a certain time frame (worse than Chase and Amex regarding pulls, much better regarding total number of cards possible to get), Citi is being very liberal in approving cards.

Moshe, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of credit lines are you getting for these new cards.  The 1st aa via plat I got back in June got a whopping 2k line.  I wanna jump into this AA buffet, but I'm worried Citi has maxed their total exposure to me at 60k.  Do I need to close some cards, or is it possible to just move credit from another card to get a new AA approved?  I would prefer instant approval  ;D

Did for a friend a few minutes ago. Shifted some credit with live chat. No card closures.

Good to know.  I never see a chance to live chat during app process like some people say.  Am I missing it or does it vary from application to application?

I think it's time to apply.

If it gives you an option to continue after it says pending, click continue twice and it should come up. If it's declined, you won't have the option.

Is it possible to have two active Citi AA cards, each linked to a different AAdvantage account?
Meaning, can I apply now for a new card with a new AAdvantage account even though I currently have an existing card linked to my old AAdvantage #?
Love me or hate me. I still love you.

I'll guess that I'll wait for the statement which won't happen before a couple of weeks.

They're probably too unsophisticated for that. Just like they keep separate AA accounts for each card. So you can be -100000 on one card and rack up miles on the other.

IIRC, I don't remember anyone having such an issue, so I assume that it's not an issue.

What's playing with fire? buying and returning in general, or ordering AA flights?
