HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

Mine came quick. I did business and consumer on the same day. One came in less than a week, the other in like 8 days.

Nu. The worst they can say is no. Send them an SM and report back to us. January seems like a long time to me. But who knows until you try?

I applied for 50K AA MC on 8/19. I went all the way through the app and they said thank you for joining, showed the bonus offer as well as $0 for first year. No instant approval. I check the status online and it says it's under further review, to check back in 24 hours and i will be contacted via phone, email or writing in 7-10. I called 3 times since then and got the same response. Except, last night i called credit analyst and Bret told me they have sent a letter that i have to fill out and send back?? I asked what the letter was in regards to and he paused, then stutters, "it's confirming you were the one who applied and some other things." Has anyone ever experienced this process?? Was i declined?? This was my first time APPLYING for any Citi card even though i keep getting offers for the Citi TY card with 25k bonus

On 8/17 i did 3BM for Amex PRG personal, SPG and PRG business, and DiscoverIt with an instant approval on all!

It may not happen often but it does happen.   You could try calling again but you may just have to wait.

Thanks Sky. If i do call again, should i just ask about status and how long it will take (play naive) or just keep it straightforward and ask what can i do to get this card approved right now??

I'd start with A, then head to B.

How do you check your Citi app status online? I thought it was call in only.

They sent me an embedded link via email, but i think i may have just edited it so anyone can use it.

You just need your app ID and zip code:

https://www.accountonline.com/cards/acq/CardApplicationStatus.do?screenID=3187

This is what it says for me:

Citi® Platinum Select® / AAdvantage® Card(s)
Thank you. We have received your application and further processing is required at this time. You may check back in 24 hours to see if a decision has been determined. We will contact you within 1 week via mail/email regarding our decision. Thank you for requesting a Citi® Platinum Select® / AAdvantage® Card(s).

You may need to send a copy of you license, they will very likely approve you.
I had such experience with chase, was actually easier to get it approved like that... but it takes time...  :(

Did anyone have the experience of being approved for 2 cards (both had identical closing date) and then only have 1 50K bonus post to AA?  Base miles posted for both.  Monthly statement states 50k bonuses for each.  - Is it possible that one of the 50K bonuses is lagging behind and will post next statement cycle?
