HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

Should I put in existing AA#, new one, or just leave blank?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

I'm all ears.

Though I'm not quite sure how you can be confident if you haven't applied, been approved, and had the miles post since about... last night :)

I downgraded my oldest AA Platinum to AA Bronze because I got tired of calling every year to waive the fee.

Citi is never FFN based, simple as that.  I'd put the odds of them going FFN based on a Sunday somewhere near the odds of you winning the next Powerball.

Citi not being FFN based doesn't mean they haven't began tracking by SSN or even currently open cards.

So unless you also know they're not doing either of the latter two things, I stand by my TBD.

And I stand by my -1.
The only thing that changed was that they coded the app to see if you've opened an AA card under your SSN within the past X amount of time.

OK, so I said TBD because I don't claim to know what Citi did behind the scenes.

If you're confident enough to "-1" my "TBD", then (i) it's clear you think that only this particular app being has been coded differently (or is it all apps?), and (ii) Citi's general churning policies have not changed and are now (back to) what they were originally, which is to say, can be churned every ~18 mos.

If so, Thingywingy can just apply with same FFN.

What he cannot do is whine to me if it doesn't work  :)

Gary just posted about this today.
Either he decided to start keeping 'secrets', or he just discovered it. I think I can guess the answer.
He has written in the past that he does not post deals if he thinks it will contribute to its death.
So, bury the hatchet.

I have had done tens of Citi AA's over the years, I have always left the FFN field blank, and they always post the miles and bonus to my one and only account AA account.
Just got another two cards last week, looking forward to more of the same...

Yeah, but I doubt any change in churning is linked to any change with FFN tracking ... too smart of a move for Citi.

What AJK meant is that you said, "Just got another 2 cards last week, looking forward to more of the same"

18 months from now
