HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

Huh! I read on the FT wiki that its possible to limit cash advances to zero $ in order to avoid being charged for CA when purchasing GC's, but when I called up citi today to do so they told me that the minimum for cash advance limit is $750... I tried to ask for a manager to override it but no luck, is this new?

I don't think it's fair to say "FT" does, but there is a fair amount of blatant misinfo that some people put up there.
Indeed, I was thinking of changing the wording before posting, but I decided to just leave it.

Maybe it's 36 months now.  Who knows with these guys.

Now you agree more might have changed?

Their system is obviously set up to reject repeat applicants within x amount of time.
What that time is has always been a guessing game and is likely a moving target. In this case it was set to 0 and now it's set to x.
That's all fine but I reject that on a Sunday afternoon that changed from an easily adjustible time based system to a sophisticated FFN based system that never previously existed.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I think we then had a miscommunication because all I said is that we don't know for sure WHAT has changed...

Citi not being FFN based doesn't mean they haven't began tracking by SSN or even currently open cards.

So unless you also know they're not doing either of the latter two things, I stand by my TBD.

OK, so I said TBD because I don't claim to know what Citi did behind the scenes.

If you're confident enough to "-1" my "TBD", then (i) it's clear you think that only this particular app being has been coded differently (or is it all apps?), and (ii) Citi's general churning policies have not changed and are now (back to) what they were originally, which is to say, can be churned every ~18 mos.

If so, Thingywingy can just apply with same FFN.

What he cannot do is whine to me if it doesn't work  :)

And you seemed to be -1'ing my TBD, and telling Thingywingy that he can go ahead and apply... whereas I was suggesting caution due this very discussion...

Should I put in existing AA#, new one, or just leave blank?
TBD.
-1
I think we then had a miscommunication because all I said is that we don't know for sure WHAT has changed...
My -1 was for the FFN being TBD as using a new or old FFN it wouldn't affect the outcome IMHO.

I was referring not to the FFN, but to the app itself, i.e. what is the appropriate circumstances under which to apply now.

Even so, I answered what he SHOULD have been asking :)

In other words, had he gone with your answer (and he already may have, to his possible detriment), he may very well be denied on account of "not waiting long enough," whereas, if he had gone with what I answered, which was to heed caution, as we do not know WHAT has changed, he'd have turned out alright... :)
