HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

From WIKI
"As of Sunday August 25, 2013:
Reports indicate personal cards may no longer be repeatedly churned."
I'm assuming its still ok if you have waited 18 months?
Oh man, this is the worst news since AA started charging YQ for awards. :P

If you start your RTW trip in Brazil you can knock down the YQ on BA.

Thanks but have spent soooo much time on Greek Isles , living in Florida for 2 years. Cant stand the heat anymore.

More interested in something without  a beach, but can't let my wife know that , cause she still Loves the beach .

That's why I am passing on Bora Bora , Maldives etc .

Would include Hawaii as a break on the way to somewhere else A La Far east Australia etc

500K AA and 200K BA Avios should get me pretty far EX NYC or Athens

I just got a notification (two actually) from the citi early FRAUD prevention unit.  I imagine it is because of the two times I used amazon payments on the card.
Anyone know what I should expect when I call them?

nothing to worry about. Expect them to ask you if you are the one who made the recent purchases. That's all.

Oy! not so simple.  It is actually my wife's card.  I didn't make her call because as I am sure many can relate she only let me apply for a card in her name begrudgingly.  anyway they wanted to confirm who she was by calling her back at a dif. number.  I think b/c the hoome phone number was in my name they wouldn't use it.
There is no number in her name and no employer of hers they can call to confirm her identity.  The only option left is to send in her drivers licence ss card and utility bill.  B"H the phone bill does come in her name.

Anyway the question is that I made the deadly sin of not having her get on the phhone and giving me permission.  If I send in her drivers licence do you think they will bust me for impersonating her?  (
(Is there a better thread to post this to?)

Update:
My wife called up and explained that I had called up in her name.  I am not share the rep understood everything but he reopened her file and said that he can clear everything up.  ב״ה Everything went smoothly and got cleared up.
But here is the shocker.  The rep said that the reason for the fraud alert was because the majority of the spending was done by the au not the primary.  This is citi not amex!  How did he know?
Is it because I sent from my ap to my wife's?  Could it be they saw that it was sent from my name?  I understood the rep to be saying that we were using the au card!

The latest is that you failed to put a question mark in your post, thereby making it difficult to read.

I believe so. Think the 9 day thing was for multiple AA cards.
