Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

WHat the deal with AU and getting first free bag?
Citi says only primary card holder, but how does the person at the desk know who's the primary card holder? Do they actually charge the card and then credit posted?

I tried this once with a additional card holder on United, as least they do it that the milage account (printed on the itinerary) of the person trying to get 1st bag free has to match that of the primary card holder's milage account, when it does the computer tells them to allow for free, if not they won't doesn't matter how many cards you wave in their face.

So according to this are you assuming if i purchase a ticket with my miles it should b good because they are usin my card?

This may help some folks to know that my wife just received a targeted offer for the Citi AA Platinum Select Mastercard w/ a 60,000 bonus. It requires $3k spend in 3mos. I got an offer for 50,000 the same day. We've been getting offers more frequently since the merger pot started stirring. I can only think one reason that they up'ed the offer for her (from the usual 50k) - a pending devaluation. I'm guessing within 90 days since corporations are all about one quarter to the next....but just a guess.  There is an invitation number, but if it helps anyone there is also what looks like a form number plastered at the bottom of each page. "A-1213-161N9" maybe you can get a CSR at citi to look that form up in their customer communication library and match the offer.  8)

Why didn't you apply for the 50k offer?  Links are on the Flyertalk AA CC thread.
