HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

The 18-month restriction doesn't apply to AA business.

Only restrictions that do apply are ,
"No more than 2 Citi applications of any kind in 60 days (65 days to be safe).
No more than 1 Citi business application in 90 days (95 to be safe)."

So you should be ok.

Refer to the Citicard thread on Flyertalk, from page 242 - a decent number of posters reporting that they are being DENIED THE BUSINESS CARD, because they previously had a business card in the previous 18 months.

I had a planned churn for next week - but I will hold back for now until I see if things have changed.

Yup looks like some changes to the rules of AA business churning.
Though many people are still reporting success getting a 2nd AA business (unlike the personal AA).
So I guess it's now ymmv.

I'm sure that this has probably been asked before, but I was approved for a Citi AA World Platinum Level MC last Oct. 2013, but I only received 30k/$1k.  Why was I not given the 50k/$3k one?  Is it possible to get the 20k extra, and if so, what's the number to call?

Paging PBaruch

Howdy!

All I can say is that it worked for me.  But eh, perhaps the rules are changing.
What do you do after your dreams come true?

Don't mean to be ignorant but do I just contact customer service via "contact us," or is there a corporate email or should I just PUTPAC? And do you mean that they matched the 50k points for you?

My latest churn cycled a week ago.
Miles on statement still not showing on AA account as of today.
I called Citi to find out which mileage number is associated with the CC account.
They told me that there is currently no mileage number associated with the account.
To resolve it, they told me I need to call AA to give them my credit card number so that they could link it to my account.
This seems very strange, and I want to know if anyone has experience with this.
I don't want to call AA unless I have to.

I doubt it. But why don't you just do a refundable, and cancel after statement closes and credit posts?

Excuse my ignorance please: Are the platinum visa and master cards considered as the same card? If I have the visa, can I apply for the mc?

As with all purchases, yes, it can take a few days to post.

What is the easiest, best, most common way to recieve Gold and other elevated Status with AA?
I am not 100% sure about this. But I am going to click it anyway.
