HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

Are the bonus miles missing just from the AA account, or from the Citi statement too?
The way I read the post.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

The way I read the post.
The reason I asked is, I also had an account close on the 4th (AA business)
Base spend miles posted a few hrs ago, but bonus (10k retention) didn't until a few minutes ago.
So if his Citi statement does list the bonus...

Haven't read through this thread but I'll share my data point:

Finished spend 02/01.
Statement closed 02/04.
Annual fee has not posted.
Bonus miles have not posted
Actual spend miles posted.
$200 credit posted.

Nice you're golden.

Seems like a lot of inconsistent data points.

Would you expect anything less from Citi?  :)

you have 90 days for spend not 3 calender months.
AP goes by calender month so you can do 4 months of AP in the 90 days. 1k*4 + 4k for wife= 8k.
Think you can manage 2k in 3 months for 100,000 miles?
of course i already used my 2k for february on another card :)

Just pay off before statement closes.

+1

I had a Citi business card with 1k CL

I paid it down a few times in the month to meet the 3K spend, 1 VR at a time.

I used Bluebird to send the check to Citi.

they told me it doesn't count..

Not going to happen.

Well, I'm living truth of the opposite:

I did it with my (and my wife's..) 2 Citi aadvantage cards, and it worked wonders!

I charged $3,000 (x4...) into my Square account on Friday, the billing cycle closed on Saturday, refunded it on Sunday (thereby avoiding the square fee :P...) and Citi didn't take back nothing. I got the bills a few days later stating that 53k aa miles were reported to American airlines. :)

Got card today, and the closing date is on the 7th, hope Citi will consider the pending charges as a charge, Citi usually does... at least the wife's closing date is on the 14th.

What day did your wife apply?

Same day as me, 31st.

Although, I called in to finish the application on the 31st, and the wife called in to finish on the 1st.
