HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

Do you actually believe for a second that the "more experienced people" want to share every shtick they know with everyone??!! And when it slips and gets shared with the public many "experienced people" are not happy...
For the record I do not question Dan's integrity at all, I do believe he is and was trying to be helpful based on something he had heard, but it doesn't take away from many others here trying to avoid the subject entirely, and when it gets discussed trying to persuade ppl from using it when it really hasn't been confirmed that AA will no matter what automatically shut your account when trying this...
I believe the experience people have integrity and have been overly helpful to myself who continues to learn and countless others. Yes they have secrets and methods which are theirs and the goal of this forum is not to copy someone else's style its to learn and find out different methods and create your own. Those who are more experienced choosing not to disclose their sources and methodologies is not stemming from a lack of integrity or a motive to deceive but rather the opposite to protect their sources.

AA cares.
10,000 people booking tickets that they plan on refunding.
Messes up so many things.

AA knows.
You might have booked the ticket with your FF #.
You get double miles and they know what you purchased and if you refunded it.

It is a mystery to me why Citi hasn't cracked down.

I answered all questions.
Well said, thank you

Implying that non-AA cancellations wouldn't be affected?

Im also not to happy beeing in the dark, but with all due respect do you think Dan didn't have that in mind when advising not to do this. Obviously his sources claim that this is not a 1 or 2 shutdowns.
oh come on and he wouldnt have warned anybody in the past? I know dan has everybodys best intrest in mind but thats a reach

Thank you,
But your theory only holds if they are only going after flights on AA booked with your FF#, Dan was indicating that even non-air refunds were targeted.

They won't know unless Citi starts reporting to AA which didn't happen yet.

I also assumed so thats why I was repeatedly questioning Dan if he has evidence for non AA.

Also if so, its only for tickets booked with FF# or at least with own name.

You didn't. Dan said that they care even for non AA refunds. the question is, WHY?

It could definitely be that Citi is cooperating.

So if it's Citi, why are they sending AA Police?

Do you think AA will just go ahead and black list 10k+ people??

Thats 10k+ less potential customers.

It could definitely be that Citi is cooperating.

That underminds your entire answer,

1. if its non AA tickets, why would they care?
2. If Citi knew and cared they would do something.

Citi cooperating with AA does not mean that Citi has to shut down CC accounts.  ::)

Some people are really really thick sometimes.

1. I'm not at liberty to divulge things that people share in confidence.  If they wanted to post everything publicly they would have.  I brought the warning as soon as it was substantiated and now more are coming forward.
People being stupid/careless about fare rules has something to do with this? Get a life.
2. There's a 99.9% chance that AA corpsec is monitoring this thread so posting possible workarounds here is just plain stupid.
3. Unless you can prove otherwise AA will ban you for life for doing this.  Perhaps it's just for AA tickets, perhaps not.  I never said they cracked down for everything but the bear has been poked by too many people and the odds are that it will encompass more than just AA tickets.  We don't know enough yet.
4. AA loves banning gamers, they've been tens of thousands and will be happy to ban more.  They get paid by Citi and get to wipe the mileage liability off of their books.  Free money.
5. I'm done in this thread bl"n. Peace out.

Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.
