HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

You clearly weren't around during the peak of, or haven't spent much time in, the Chase A/A thread.
Notice how much less activity there is after my post on the subject...people were being stupid or didn't know better IMHO.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I don't remember reading your article (I don't remember many things), but I think people on DDF who read that thread know already all the triggers and that Chase almost always doesn't close before a few months later.

If my name and AAdvantage number is not coming up in their system, must i worry?
It seems, when AA made my account they made my first name my last name etc.

People are still getting shut, but the magnitude is way down.
Perhaps a coincidence, perhaps people getting smarter.

If in fact it were in fact people getting smarter, the subsequent large decrease in A/As which apparently occurred would not have followed as suddenly as it did.

People still had crimes to pay for when you post was published.

Not at all.

1. FTers are less likely to play in this morally dark grey area and stick to more traditional MS.
2. FTers are all about their programs and elite status and are unlikely to share being booted from an airline. At the other end is the FWers that get status based on how many bans they've received while DDF is in the middle I'd say.
3. FT is very heavily moderated and FT mods are overzealous and are in the airline's pockets (comped trips, etc) and quickly delete reports of account audits and shutdowns.  I have seen it firsthand.
#3 is extremely enlightening. WOW!

Time to put a warning on the main site?
Please don't. Chilul Hashem concerns. Cancelling tickets is extremely unethical. At least don't say it's based on DDFers experiences.

most people dont now about refudables and even if they do they are scared to do it in case they do it wrong and get stuck with the ticket. The only people doing it are ddfers or novices who arent doing the shpiel by themselves( vehameinvn yavin.)

@Dan.

Probably best to mention the warning in passing on the main site.

Hopefully, the people who it is most relevant to will see it and take note and the idiots who can't read past the first sentence will not raise a firestorm.

Has anyone had problems with getting the miles when they canceled the card to get out of the AF?
