HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

2 of my people that I help did not receive the 100k but only received 75k. Weird, obvious idea that comes to mind is that they applied for the 75k link but I dont think that happened. Either way Citi asked to send in a brief letter with the acct # on it to Fax # 866-799-5591 & they added the miles on quite promptly.

Another idea is while applying for the second and asking to move CL from the first, just offer to close down the first and move all the CL to the second.

How would you explain the need for a third card if your offering to close one of them? That doesn't make much sense to me.

Because you want the points?
Why does it make less sense than applying for a 2nd while still keeping the first 1st open?

By the time you go for the 3rd card, the first is already closed. Offer to close the 2nd card to get the 3rd approved. Don't think it would work?

Separate spending?

If I were the rep on the phone, I wouldn't approve you if you told me that all you want is the points and then you'll close the account. They offer the points to get you as a long term customer.

Speak for yourself.

You may do it, but that's foolish, IMHO.

Why in the world would that convince a recon specialist he or she should give you card number X? So you can further fleece his or her employer?

Speak for yourself.

So it is now considered correct to say that we are getting the cards , just for the bonus?   If you are correct I guess times have changed ?

And this is sarcasm !

Personaly I think that's dangerous advice, and I always speak for myself

Hard to do that much via AP especially when it's just one of your current cards.
