Anyone have any tips on the poconos?  Wanted to get away for some quiet time with the wife for 2 days...
Is there any kosher food up there?
Has anyone stayed at the Ceasars?  Would like to use my spg points for a free stay any tips on which one?

Any tips on area attractions or anything else would really be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jack
No one has updated this in awhile. I'm thinking about going there next week with spg points. Anyone have any info they can share? Which one of the 3 resorts would you recommend?

I went with my wife a few weeks ago for four days. We went to Pocono Palace. Great place. Staff is really nice and friendly. We used SPG points for the lowest level room and got upgraded to the champagne room. Room is a bit outdated, but if you ignore the decor, it's great to have a pool, sauna and jacuzzi in your room (2 floors)! They provide you with breakfast and dinner (meal mart) in your room. The breakfast is starbucks coffee, cereal (kosher), and meal mart omlettes (airplane style). They also provided us with fresh fruits upon special request. Dinner meals were pretty bad (microwaved freeze dried chicken, meat). We brought a foreman and some frozen meat and we ate that instead - there are refrigerators in the room. They have nice grounds, including a lake, fishing gear, paddle boats... there is a horseback riding place rigth next door which was quite fun and a shooting range nearby which was fun too. They provide free transportation to and from Mount Airy Casino at any time of day.
I think I pretty much covered everything... hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the report.
What made you pick Pocono Palace over the other options?
Did you order the kosher food in advance?
What is your SPG status?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thnx for the info. Did you find the rooms to be clean and well kept? I'm hearing from some people it's pretty dirty and that's my biggest concern.

I plan on going to the poconos this week. I will iy"h be staying in the lake wallenpaupack area. Does anybody know where the closest minyan is? Also is there any store in the area that sells kosher food? Any advice/input is greatly appreciated. Thanx

P.s. If anybody has experience with specific attractions in the area please let me know.

I made a mistake. We actually ended up at Paradise Stream. We chose it since it is supposed to be the most newly renovated resort (although that didn't seem to be the case - haven't seen the other resorts to compare though) and it was closest to Camp Dora Golding - where I planned on davening.
We did reserve kosher meals in advance, but it seems like they had plenty to spare so I'm sure they would have available if you didn't order in advance..
We are corporate SPG with not very many stays. It was a quiet time at the resort and we asked for an upgrade and they were happy to give us one.

We were also concerned about that since many online review seem to say that the rooms are dirty, etc.. but we were pleasantly surprised (and we have high standards.) The rooms were very clean. Also, as I mentioned before, the staff is super friendly and out to accommodate your needs. If you feel your room is dirty, they will show you as many rooms as you'd like until you feel comfortable.

Where did you stay? Were you there for a shabbos? Any idea if there is a minyan walking distance?

I stayed in the Mount Airy Casino during the week not for shabbos. Its not within walking distance to any shul and I dont think any hotels are unless you stay in the scranton area but you'd have to check into that.
