Pashut. Walk into carmax, near the airport. Bring the registration with you, and a recent statement from Honda or whoever . They take your car and give you a quote. Try to go when Honda is open, and they’ll call and get the exact payoff. If you come out on top they hand you a check, they keep the car. If not you have a quote that’s good for a week, so you can find out if they’ll make you pay in and decide what to do. Done it several times, it’s mamash a cinch. Takes about 45 minute plus travel time.
Only bank that was difficult was ally with a dodge

I'm sure on a camry or accord the value is there- but not for my crv. Either way it's good to know

I'd imagine it has more to do with how close the estimated residual value that was used to calculate the lease price is to the actual value of the car when you're looking to sell it.

That's why I mentioned the example of a lease where the allotted mileage was underused, that'll boost the actual value relative to the estimated residual value.

that's exactly right. That being said, some cars hold their value better than others. but if you're way under or way over on your mileage its a slam dunk

Oh man, you got me all excited. Then I search on CarMax and I see the closest one to the NY Metro area is in Easthaven, CT. Are there any similar companies that might have locations a little closer?

But they essentially send you to dealers, no? Not quite the same as CarMax, where it sounds like you just walk into their store and they do the rest.

Would it also depend on how much you pay per month.... the higher monthly payments the lower the residual?

It's generally the other way around. They set a residual value and then figure out the lease payments that bring you from the new car value to the residual value.

Has anyone else sold an end-of-lease car to a dealer (like Carmax) in the NY area? My lease is up in a month and the car is way under its mileage (only 15,000 miles and 36,000 were allowed) and Edmonds and Kelley Blue Book are both showing the resale value of the car as significantly more than the payoff value. Any advice?
