yes this is how it works. i've found this out the hard way. it sounds like the reason is bec the wayver olny goes for the length of the lease when you sign it

Anyone know of a good lease price on a Kia Optima LX 2019? The best quote i got so far is $203 a month with 12,000 miles a year with $1,400 upfront to cover all fees, and first month.

Dealerships have a huge lobby that sits and protects the laws that prohibit sales direct to consumer, a law that makes no sense. So while they are at it might as well push more laws that benefit them.
