It all depends on how long you plan on keeping the car and the specific residual/interest/incentives on each car. But generally buying a slightly used car and keeping it for longer makes more financial sense. Teslas are an anomaly because as of now they don't really depreciate over the first few years.
Yup. Covered all that in my post, I think

Have to be willing to drive a truck
I put it together myself based on leasehacker and had the broker find the car. Since then all the brokers in town have been selling it.
Tundra 4x4 crewmax 5 with us bank.
38 gallon tank is a nice bonus if you're playing the supermarket fuel points game.
Ah, yes. That deal. ;)

Why does anyone buy or finance is what I've always wondered.
I bought out and sold my last lease, netted 5k. Leased a brand new vehicle, msrp of 48k, for $250 a month, 24 month lease. Rinse and repeat, and worst case scenario give it back and walk away.

Not every vehicle will have positive equity that you can turn it in for a profit. Happens to be the used car market right now is hot due to Covid, and you can flip to Vroom/Carvana for a profit. But that's not always the case.

I've been doing it for well over a decade. But requires strategic leasing, yes, and lower mileage.

What platform did you use to sell when the lease was up? I am in a similar scenario, at end of a lease and would like to try that.
Thanks

Last two cars (both in 2019) vroom.
One was an odyssey, one a charger
Previously was Carmax, but they've been very low lately.
Generally sell about two years in, not waiting for 36 months, one of the many reasons I didn't put down a down payment

RODO app has the Honda oddysey exl for $400 (even $396) all rolled in (48 months but can change to 39 I think for almost the same), 12 k miles.

I think that’s a great deal from what I am hearing.

Also see some good Kia deals

Speaking of RODO I see one odyssey lx for 276$ DAS 2727$. 36/7.5k miles

It’s pretty striped but if you are looking for cheapest it’s good deal.

P.s.  this is at your own risk some people reported not getting a deal that was advertised personally I once leased thru them when they were Honcker with no issue

That's not counting +3k down...
In a lease, that's about $75 a month more

First of all the to clear things up, $2727 is not a cap cost reduction it’s just state taxes(%8.875) first month payment, dealer fee bank fee Tag’s title fees etc...

Second, you have to pay every lease broker at least $1295-$1495 for first month PLUS first month (unless you are doing a true $0 sign and drive) so you are already $1500-1700 putting up front regardless.

If you roll the taxes in monthly payments it would be $299 and $1919 DAS.

If you want a true sign and drive with just paying first month fee then it would be $351.

These numbers are shown by the adjustable DAS option on the RODO app.

If I have a lease in my parent's name and it's ending now, and I want to get a new lease in my own name, can I transfer plates or do I need new ones
